One Planet Pizza grab a slice of investment for their planet-friendly pizza business

Updated: Jan 23, 2023

The One Planet Pizza team first pitched to the Anglia Capital Group Angels in January 2021 and immediately impressed with their big personalities, delicious pizzas and solid business plan. They were successful again in March this year, once again securing equity funding as part of their next fundraising round.

“One Planet Pizza were initially successful in securing £115,000 through Anglia Capital Group and our co-investment fund, New Anglia Capital, the first time they pitched to the group in 2021. We were delighted to hear from them early in 2022 when they were looking to raise again. It’s always good to have a portfolio company come back to present to the members for a follow-on round and to share their progress. They once again gave an impressive pitch and received £162,876 through Anglia Capital Group and New Anglia Capital. One Planet Pizza are based locally here in Norwich and it’s incredibly satisfying for the Anglia Capital Group team to see them going from strength to strength” Hannah Smith, Managing Director, Anglia Capital Group.

One Planet Pizza was created by father and son team Mike and Joe Hill. Their vision was to make mouth-watering pizzas that are great for consumers and great for the planet, or as they like to call it “pizza with purpose”.

Having recently launched into ASDA stores, One Planet Pizza are building on their plans to offer their vegan pizzas to a more mainstream audience as demand grows for more plant-based options.

Co-Founder of One Planet Pizza, Mike Hill, added: “It’s been one hell of a ride, since we ignited our first pizza oven in the garage in 2016, to the global business we are today so it means a lot to us to be supported by local investors. As a family founded Norfolk business, we are overwhelmed with the support we have had so far which has led to success of the brand both in the UK and internationally.”

One Planet Pizza was recently crowned winner of the Environmental Impact category at the Broadland and South Norfolk Business Awards.

Joe Hill, co-founder of One-Planet Pizza, said: “It’s been an amazing few years building the business to what it is today and securing our first major grocer listing gives us the opportunity to scale further and ramp up capacity at our base in Norfolk. We are always looking for new product ideas, and working with other brands in our space to make the most mouth-watering pizzas we can – all whilst saving the planet, one slice at a time”

Anglia Capital Group’s Members have supported the rapid growth of 47 companies to-date by sharing, not only their capital, but also their personal experience and knowledge from their own diverse careers.
